New STJS event! A summer festival featuring local bands at the monthly
STJS meeting (referred to as "Jazz Sunday") held at the Dante Club.
Featured bands: Sister Swing, Dutch's Gas House Gang, Fulton Street JB,
Beth Duncan with Jim Martinez & Friends, and the Ernie Bucio Little Big Band.

Jazz Jubilee, is very proud to present a double shot of hot jazz and
low-down classic blues for one night only: it's the Sacramento debut of
New York City jazz-blues vocalist Catherine Russell AND
worldwide debut of The "Little Charlie" Caravan, a new Django-style
group featuring local guitar great "Little Charlie" Baty.

JULY 16 JAZZ VESPER
Wed. evening at 7pm, Rev. Jim Lee will lead a special Jazz Vesper service
interspersed with music that found its way from the fields to the churches
of the deep south, and into popular music. Christ Unity Church of Sacto.

JB's LOUNGE is NEW HOME for "SUNDAY EVENING JAZZ"
"Savanna's Lounge" at the Red Lion Sacto. Inn has been remodeled and
renamed "JB's Lounge." It is a gorgeous room with comfy couches dotted
throughout. The larger bar area now offers more seating, and the booths
have new upholstery. There's also a larger stage with piano for all the
great artists
featured weekly at "Sunday Evening Jazz" from 5-8pm.

Q. Louis Armstrong was almost always on the road. He crisscrossed the U.S.
dozens of times and returned to Europe playing in Denmark, Sweden,
Norway, Holland and England. In 1935, he returned to the U.S. and hired

until his death in 1969. He took care of the business end of things, leaving
Armstrong free to concentrate on his music. He hired the (2) ____ _______

This was like going home for Armstrong, because this orchestra was
