Debby Boone regularly performs in theaters, nightclubs and with symphony orchestras around the country. Last year, she performed with the Boston Pops and at the West Coast Jazz Party alongside the jazz greats of today. She hit the pop charts in 1977 when she dislodged the Beatles from their #1 spot on the Billboard Top 100 with her single, “You Light Up My Life” (10 weeks #1), for which she won the Grammy for Best New Artist. Since then, Debby has won two more Grammy Awards along with many other awards in the pop, gospel and country fields. She recorded many albums including one with her late mother-in-law, Rosemary Clooney, and a tribute album to Rosemary Clooney that received a great review from Jazz Times. She is also featured on the Desert Cities Jazz Band CD issued late last year.

Hal Linden, an accomplished jazz clarinetist, is a Tony Award winning actor who portrayed the beloved detective Barney Miller on television. He has recorded several big band CDs and is featured on the most recent CD by the DCJB.

Allen Goodman, leader/drums – It all started with summer gigs in the Catskills of NY State, but he went on to play in recording studios, in bands and as a member of the NBC TV Orchestra and accompany the world's greatest singers: Johnny Mathis, Dinah Shore, Peggy Lee, Liza Minnelli, among others. He owned a jazz club in LA, was nominated for several Emmy awards, and was the music producer for a children's series on PBS. You can hear Allen on the original sound track of the "George of the Jungle" cartoon series (not to mention "Tom Slick" and "Super Chicken").
The Desert Cities Jazz Band performs year round in the Palm Springs area. The band is led by drummer Allen Goodman who played with Al Hirt, Johnny Mathis, the NBC Studio Orchestra and many other great stars. Allen was a faculty member of our jazz camps at Sly Park. The band also features reed player and vocalist Don Shelton, a former member of the Hi-Los and The Singers Unlimited, a group that issued many recordings including one with the Oscar Peterson Trio. Don can be heard on Michael Jackson’s last release “This Is It,” and on recordings with Dianne Reeves, Celine Dion, Gloria Estefan, Michael Feinstein, Joey Defrancesco, the Manhattan Transfer and others. Trumpet player and vocalist Stan Watkins toured and recorded with the Brian Setzer Orchestra and the Royal Crown Review. Andy Langham is a world class pianist and great jazz player who has worked for Ray Price, Willie Nelson, and Sally Kellerman. Trombonist Kent McGarity toured and recorded with Woody Herman, and bassist Danny Flahive is a highly regarded Southern California jazz artist.
