Glenn Miller Birthday – Glenn Miller was born on March 1, 1904 in Clarinda, Iowa, USA. His family was a musical one, and he grew up playing various instruments, including the trombone and the cornet.
He got his start in music by playing in various bands throughout the 1920s and 1930s, eventually forming his own band in 1937. The Glenn Miller Orchestra became one of the most popular and successful big bands of the swing era, with hits such as “Moonlight Serenade” and “In the Mood.” Miller’s distinctive arrangements and use of clarinet and saxophone sections helped to define the sound of the swing era. He died tragically in a plane crash while serving in the US Army Air Forces during World War II.
